Restaurant de Takoyaki

Takoyakis, literally “grilled octopus”, are an Osaka specialty in the form of balls containing pieces of octopus. Generally, takoyaki is sold in yatai stalls facing the street to be taken away or eaten outside.
Below, you'll see the first sketch I draw and some photo references that I took when I was living in Japan. A representation of an octopus clearly visible on the storefront is a way of identifying them from afar.




Creperie japonaise

I drew my inspiration from the creperies I saw there. I was also inspired by their presentation of the different crepes.


☕ Kissaten 🍵

A kissaten (喫茶店), literally "teahouse", is a Japanese-style teahouse that also doubles as a cafe. They developed in the early 20th century to distinguish themselves from coffee houses, as coffee houses had become places that also served alcohol with noise and partying. A kissaten was a quiet place to drink coffee
